Obituary of Sylvia Joan Brockman

Entered into eternal life September 2, 2017 Sylvia “Joan” Brockman was born to Jacob and Ethel Mae Lewis in Taipei Taiwan while her Father was serving with the United States Army. A breathtakingly beautiful woman (inside and out) she touched the hearts and enriched the lives of everyone she met. She had faith in God and His mercy. She lived her faith and shared it with her family, friends and the Saint Francis of Assisi Parish community. A strong and determined woman, she accompanied her husband, Les during his Air Force career--making a home for her family wherever the Air Force sent them. When they retired from the Air Force, Castle Rock became home. Sylvia was a devoted mother, marvelous cook, masterful woodworker, an accomplished knitter and a meticulous bookkeeper. She loved her time with the Douglas County School District where she had the good fortune to cultivate many lasting friendships during her fourteen-year tenure. Sylvia enjoyed travelling, date nights with Les, spending time with family and friends, knitting, reading, photography, gardening, bowling and immersing herself in the education, interests and activities of her husband and children. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Thomas. Sylvia leaves behind her husband, soulmate and best friend, Les; daughter, Amanda; son, Nicholas (Kimberly); her brothers, Jacob Lewis, Jr. (Linda) and Pat; her niece, Carrie; nephews, David and Andrew; aunts, uncles, cousins and many precious friends. This amazing woman will forever be adored by her family. Always the epitome of unconditional love, Sylvia will be sorely missed. Visitation/Recitation of the Rosary, Sunday, September 10, 2017 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m., Funeral Mass Monday, September 11, 2017. 11:00 a.m. both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Castle Rock.
