Hal Roger

Obituary of Hal Linden Roger

Hal Linden Roger, a former long-time resident of Lafayette, passed away in Colorado on February 25, 2017, after a long illness. He was born in Uvalde, Texas on September 10, 1960. When the family moved to Houston, Texas, Hal completed his formal education at the Ellen B. Lane Center in 1992. Hal had a unique perspective on the world. His smile was contagious and he never met a stranger. He loved interacting with everyone he met and always offered a friendly handshake, hug or a kiss. Hal was a relentless flirt and a charmer with the ladies. His particular brand of sunshine was a rare gift freely given to all who came to know and love him. Hal's was a life well-lived because of the pure joy with which he attacked every day. Hal loved sports, especially watching the Dallas Cowboys. A wrestling enthusiast and rodeo fan too, he loved dancing, airplanes, playing dominoes and traveling. Another of Hal's great joys was trying new restaurants and different kinds of food. Hal is survived by his parents Hubert and Mary Grace Thibodeaux Roger of Parker, CO., a brother Hugh Roger and wife Paula of Parker, CO., a nephew Mac Roger, a niece Jennifer Shaffer, and a great-nephew Henry Shaffer all of Parker, CO. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Aristide and Lydia Sonnier Roger and Henry and Edna Leblanc Thibodeaux. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ponderosa Valley Funeral Home in Parker, Colorado. A Graveside Service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017, Staging Area "C". In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Special Olympics. Service Information
