Obituary of Mary Leanne Shuey

Mary Leanne Shuey, age 57, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Saturday, January 7, 2017. She was born on March 6, 1959 in Englewood, Colorado, a daughter to the late Philip and Mary Jane Shuey of Parker, Colorado. Mary was a long time resident of Parker. She grew up and spent almost all of her life in what used to be a very small town community. It has grown substantially since 1967, when she first grew roots in Douglas County and never spread very far away from the family homestead. Mary graduated from Douglas County High School in 1977. She spent over 25 years in the Property Management Industry and had a successful career in managing some of the larger properties in both Denver and Colorado Springs. She met many people and made several cherished friendships. Mary had a loving and generous heart and was always there to help others. She loved to garden, her favorite was planting flowers of all varieties. She spent many enjoyable hours on her outside porch caring and talking to her flowers. She was not much for stem flowers as she dreaded throwing them away. Mary also adored Fashion and Interior Design. She had a unique sense of fashion and if she was not wearing a pair (she owned many) of five inch Sillito Heels and tons of accessories the outfit was just not complete. The inside of her house had more accessories than her closet, which was at one time a spare room that she turned into a closet to store all her clothing treasures. Mary’s absolute favorite thing in life were her grandchildren, they were her heart and her joy. There is no denying that those were the people she loved the most. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving daughters Jami (Scott) Duggan of Aurora, CO and Kati (Ray) Riedel of Elizabeth, CO; her adored grandchildren Derrick, Colin, Trinity, Jayme, Ayden and Delaney (peanut); her devoted sisters Kathy (John) Peterson, Anne (Tony) Medina, Amy (Mark) Martinet; and her loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends. Mary will be laid to rest on Monday, January 16, 2017. A Funeral Mass to be held at 11:30 AM at Ave Maria Catholic Church, 9056 E. Parker Road in Parker. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 11:00 AM prior to the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice in Mary’s name. If she were to write this she would say to just spend more time with your children and grandchildren, find a lake and have a picnic, take a walk on the beach with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships.
