Obituary of Garrett James Giacomelli

Garrett James Giacomelli, 27, of Littleton, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2016 at his home. We celebrated his life on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Southside Bible Church in Centennial. Garrett never met a stranger. Everyone who knew him loved his charismatic and exuberant personality. He touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed. His love for people and his quick wit brought joy to those around him. We will spend a lifetime recalling his story and enlightening those around us of his enduring spirit and determination to embrace truth, life and the hope of Jesus. He was an inspiration. The past two years of his sobriety were a gift. We were so blessed to have our son, daddy, brother, grandson, nephew and friend back. His struggle with addiction has finally ended. He is at peace. He was born on August 17, 1989 in Englewood. He is survived by his father, Robert James Giacomelli, of Centennial and his mother and stepfather, Leslie Seawell Garske and Craig Garske, of Littleton; his daughter Leah Isabella McGilchrist, 8 years old; his adoring sister Erin Giacomelli and brother-in- law Lee Wise of Denver; as well as his brother Jackson Garske, 16, of Littleton. He is also survived by his loving girlfriend, Dominique Gerard, of Lakewood. Maternal grandparents Tom and Marcia Seawell of Denver survive, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents James and Marilyn Giacomelli of Moline, Illinois. He was striving to become the father he wanted to be to his daughter Leah. They enjoyed ice skating, movies, Legos, and playing cards together as well as the Daddy/Daughter Dance at Leah’s school. The first time he laid eyes on her, he fell instantly in love. He was a faithful and dedicated employee of Andraos Construction, where he had worked as a project manager since Feb. 2015. Garrett considered the owners and employees of Andraos Construction his second family. He loved working there. The owners, Ray Andraos and Robert Davis, took a chance on him by hiring him with no prior construction experience. Garrett was so grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed under their fatherly guidance. Garrett liked to work out. His home-away- from-home was 24 Hour Fitness in Lakewood, where he met his girlfriend Dom and many of his closest friends.
