Obituary of Marjorie B. Flint

Marjorie Beverly (Perry) Flint, 89, passed peacefully from this life to eternity on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Porter Hospice in Centennial. She will be laid to rest with her husband, George Kenneth Flint, in Rose Hills Memorial Park (Sequoia Lawn, Plot 5917, Space 4), Whittier, California on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.. A Celebration of Life will be held at Southeast Christian Church – Solomon Center – Colorado Room (16965 Pine Lane, Parker, CO) on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Marge was born on October 8, 1926 in Richford, Vermont to Gordon and Odvin Perry. Marge married George Kenneth Flint on June 29, 1943. Together they had three children: George, Helen and Charlie. She and her husband moved to California in 1950. Marge worked for Los Angeles County Health Department for over 30 years as an administrative assistant. She served as chairwoman for the women’s group at Redeemer Lutheran Church in El Monte, CA and was an active member and onetime president of the women’s group at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Temple City, CA. She enjoyed singing and made a joyful noise unto the Lord as a member of the choir at both churches for a number of years. In 2004, her youngest son and daughter-in-law persuaded her to move to Colorado to live with them and so began her Rocky Mountain adventure. Once she was convinced that it wasn’t as cold and snowy as Vermont and that she didn’t have to go out in it since she was retired, she settled right in. She enjoyed volunteering at Parker Adventist Hospital assisting the office staff. She also volunteered at Southeast Christian Church and School assisting the office staff for both the church and the school. In addition, she loved serving as a Saturday night greeter at Southeast Christian Church for several years and attending the women’s Bible study. She never sought any special attention for herself, but was most happy when she was serving others. Although Marge spent a good portion of her life in California and Colorado, her heart remained in Vermont. She was quick to share stories of her growing up years in a smaller town and simpler time. Fall was most definitely her favorite time of the year and she was often seen wearing her fall colored wardrobe even in spring!! Forget pinks and purples, it was oranges and reds for Marge, thus reminding her of the beauty of the changing leaves of Vermont. Marge was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter. She is survived by her two sons, nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Marge had a sweet and loving spirit and she will be missed by many, but we have the promise of being reunited with her one day in heaven! In the meantime, she’ll probably be singing with the heavenly choir and helping Peter greet newcomers at the gate!
