Obituary of Helen M. Ireland

Helen Ireland, 94, was born on April 13, 1922 and passed away on April 25, 2016. She is survived by four of her children: Paul, Barry, Jeffrey, and Barbara as well as 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was married to Edward in 1940 and they were married for 71 years before his passing in 2012. Their oldest son, David, also predeceased her in 2012. She was raised on a farm in Greenlawn, NY in until her marriage. They lived in Huntington, NY until Ed retired in 1982. At that time, they sold their house and lived and travelled in their RV for two years. In 1984, they bought a house in Farmville, VA. They also purchased a home in Port Richey, FL and became snowbirds, moving between the two houses with the seasons. In 2000, they moved to Parker, CO where two of their children lived, and resided there until their deaths. Both she and Ed enjoyed traveling. Throughout the 60s and 70s, they owned various boats and traveled throughout the north shore of Long Island, Connecticut, and up the Hudson River. Family vacations at that time included at least two weeks camping and two weeks on the boat every year. In the early 80s, they sold the boat and traveled throughout the United States in a RV. The RV was sold in the late 80s and Ed began his motorcycle phase, owning several touring bikes. Helen even traveled in her early 90s, visiting her son Jeffrey in Florida and going to the Rose Bowl Parade in California, a lifelong desire. Both Helen and Ed were deeply religious, regular, and active members of their church. Their original church was Central Presbyterian Church in Huntington, NY, followed by Farmville Presbyterian Church in Farmville, VA. Their final church was Providence Presbyterian Church in Parker, CO. Helen had a love of children which became obvious to anyone who knew her. She enjoyed any visits of children, grandchildren or great grandchildren. Family reunions were always a joy to her and throughout the years were held in Huntington, on Lake Keuka in NY and in Breckenridge, CO. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 6 at 6 PM at the Providence Presbyterian Church in Parker (18632 Pony Express Dr, Parker, CO 80134). Service Information
