Obituary of Carolyn Muir Hampel

Carolyn Frances Muir Hampel, of Aurora, Colorado, died peacefully at age 88 on April 19, 2016, in Parker, Colorado, from a stroke suffered in November 2015. Carolyn was born December 7, 1927, in Glendale, California, to J. Wilfred Muir and Frances Newcomb Muir. She graduated San Bernardino High School (1945), and University of Redlands (1949), in California. On May 21, 1950, she married Robert Hampel in San Bernardino. She is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, her daughter and son-in-law Mary and Bill DeHay, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Fred and Jane Hampel, her grandchildren Laura and Hunter Petersen and their parents Nancy and Don Petersen, her nieces Karen Morelli, Cindy Clark, and Elaine Crenshaw and their husbands, 8 great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her son Rob Hampel (1979) and her brother Jim Muir (1980). Carolyn accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age, and lived her life following and serving Him. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and a friend to many. Her many gifts included music; she was an organist and pianist, and taught piano lessons for 40 years. Carolyn and Bob lived in Aurora, Oregon; San Jose, California; Hollister, California; and Newark, California during Bob’s pastorates. After Bob’s retirement they lived in Santa Rosa, California; and Aurora, Colorado. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, 10:00 AM, at the Solomon Centre of Southeast Christian Church, 16965 Pine Lane, Parker, Colorado.
