Obituary of Cecelia L. Allen

Cecelia L. Allen, of Castle Rock, formerly of Rowdy, Kentucky and Petersburg, Michigan. Cecelia was born in San Francisco, California, on July 7, 1927 and passed away at The Center at Lincoln in Parker, Colorado on February 19, 2016 at the age of 88. Cecelia’s parents were Harry Sampei Hiraga and Theresa Yonazu Hiraga. She was the oldest daughter of seven children, with four older brothers and a younger brother and sister. Cecelia lived in California with her family until WWII. As a teenager she and her family were placed in the Manzanar Japanese Concentration Camp in Lone Pine, California. After the war she and her family traveled to Ann Arbor in search of employment. She graduated from St. Thomas (Gabriel Richard) High School in Ann Arbor. And graduated from Alexander School of Beauty as a licensed cosmetologist. The love of Cecelia’s life was Audie Allen and he and Cece were to understand the covenant of marriage and commitment until his death in April 2012. In their early years they made their home in the Ypsilanti area and together they raised 2 daughters. Throughout her life she owned and managed several beauty shops in Ann Arbor, Kentucky and Petersburg, MI. In addition, she and her husband owned businesses, the Brass Rail Bar and the Coin Laundromat in Petersburg. She later retired and moved to Rowdy, Kentucky. After retirement she spent years volunteering for the Republican party and local public candidates. She was extremely artistic and talented and enjoyed textile crafting, semiprecious stone jewelry making, and knitting. She enjoyed traveling between Michigan and Colorado, and traveling and vacationing with her daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings, Mikio (Phyllis) Hiraga and Lucinda (Donald) Hiraga Reed and daughters Rita (Gary) Spreeman and Audrey Cricket (Tim) Rumler. Grandchildren. Heather and (Aaron) German, Kelly (Sam) Trujillo and Sarah Spreeman. Derek (Kim) Rumler, Rebekah (Mike) Lipski and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Audie, her parents, Harry and Theresa Hiraga, a step-son, Steven Allen, brothers, Raymond Hiraga, Arthur Hiraga, Edward Hiraga, Earnest Hiraga and twin great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the United Methodist Church, 152 Saline Street in Petersburg, Michigan. A Luncheon will follow the Service at the Church. The family will receive visitors at the Church starting at 10:00 a.m. Service Information
