Obituary of Leonard Eugene Maul

Leonard Eugene Maul passed away peacefully on February 19, 2016 at Crown Crest in Parker. Leonard was 84 years old. Preceding Leonard in death were his parents, Richard and Irene (Lough) Maul, and the love of his life, Daisy. Leonard's great-grandparents, Karl and Adelgunde and family traveled from Germany in 1873. The voyage took twenty-one days. They were one of the earliest pioneer families in Elbert County. Leonard was born on November 6, 1931. He had nine siblings; Lorraine, Leora, Janice, Leroy, George, Lyle, Helen and Lonnie. The Mauls resided in Elbert County and then moved to Alamosa. Leonard was a hard worker and was proud of his German heritage. He worked at ranching and farming in Alamosa. In the 1970s, Leonard moved back to Elbert County. He worked at the Elizabeth Locker Plant and traded in scrap metal. Leonard led a colorful life, and he did things his way. He was generous to his friends, while his gas tank would be on empty. We will miss Leonard, he made our lives interesting. Burial will be at Elizabeth Cemetery. Memorials in Leonard's name may be sent to Elizabeth Cemetery, 504 Hwy. 86, Elizabeth, CO 80107.
