Obituary of Thomas M. Driscoll

Thomas Michael Driscoll of Centennial, Colo. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 after a long journey and battle with cancer. Born in La Junta, Colo. on July 24, 1956 to John and Bernita Driscoll and the fourth of their eight children, he was raised through high school in La Junta and lived most of the rest of his life in Colorado Springs, Colo. At La Junta High School, Tom excelled as an athlete in football, where he was selected and played in the Colorado High School All State Football game in 1974, in basketball and track & field, where he was a top performer. He attended Western State College in Gunnison where he played basketball. Tom began his long career in the Mechanical/HVAC business in Ft. Collins, Colo. with Allen Plumbing & Heating. Tom spent much of his career as an operations manager with RK Mechanical in Denver, Cobb Mechanical in Denver and in Colorado Springs and HPE, Inc. in Colorado Springs. He was a much loved manager by the hundreds of employees whom Tom hired over the years. Tom's strong work ethic, his ability to teach, his sense of humor and love for people were all traits successfully demonstrated in his working career. Tom raised three daughters with then wife Donna; Jill Carr (James) of San Diego, California, Tiffany Townsend (Mike) of Colorado Springs, and Christi Burks (Matt) of Austin, Texas. Tom was an extraordinary father and his love for his "girls" was unsurpassed as he provided whatever he had to help in their development to the marvelous women they are today. In 2007, Tom met Karen Vorheis and was "smitten" and their relationship grew and flourished. Karen's love and support of Tom through the past years was a wonderful gift in his life. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Susie, the sixth of the Driscoll children. He is survived by Karen, his three daughters and their husbands, and four grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Elizabeth Vukovich (Mirko) of Littleton and Janet Clough (Scott) of Broken Arrow, Okla. and four brothers Mark Driscoll (Neyla) of Ft Collins, Paul Driscoll (Jan) of Boulder, Steve Driscoll (Teri) of Highlands Ranch, and Joseph Driscoll (Lisa) of Ft. Collins. Tom had an unwavering faith in God and an extraordinary gift of making people comfortable and loved. He unselfishly shared these gifts with many others during the years of his difficult illness and time in hospice. He will be greatly missed but the impact he made on so many lives through his time at hospice will indeed never be forgotten. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Cherry Hills Community Chapel located at 3900 E. Grace Blvd., Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80126. Tom's passion for all things Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, or Denver Nuggets was well known to all who knew him. In the spirit of this passion, all who attend this celebration are asked to wear their favorite Broncos, Rockies or Nuggets gear to help celebrate Tom's life. Interment at the Cherry Hills Gardens will be after the celebration with a reception to follow in the Cherry Hills Community Room. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Porter Hospice at the Johnson Center, 5020 E. Arapahoe Road., Centennial, Colo. 80122 or the charity of your choice. Service Information
