Obituary of Edwin Peter Nicholas

Edwin Peter Nicholas, 74, of Elbert, CO died at his home, November 6, 2012. He is preceded in death by wife Joan. Ed is survived by his brother Ron, sister Terri, 5 children: Steven, Norman, Clifford, Janelle, Elaine, and 8 grandchildren: Nathan, Blake, Chase, Trevor, Kainen, Aidan, Dylan and Hope. Ed was born October 25, 1938, the eldest child of Harold and Theresa Nicholas. Ed's parents were living in a small house on the property of his aunt and uncle when he was born. At the time, the tiny home had no plumbing or insulation, Harold and Teresa had to sleep with Edwin between them to keep him warm at night. On May 15, 1960, Ed married Joan Luino of Lakewood, CO. Early in their marriage, Joan and Edwin fulfilled their dream by purchasing a small ranch in Elizabeth, CO; here they raised three sons and two daughters. For many years, Ed commuted from Elizabeth to Denver where he worked as a foreman in a grocery warehouse. In 1995, Ed and Joan sold their 80-acre ranch in Elizabeth for a larger ranch in Elbert, CO. On August 17, 2012 Ed's wife, Joan passed away. Ed was eager to join her and he did on November 6,, 2012. Ed and Joan were married 52 years and left quite a legacy of children, grandchildren and many friends. Both will always be known for their passions in life and love of family. A funeral will be held on Thursday, November 29th, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, 34201 County Road 33 Kiowa, CO 80117.
