Obituary of Leslie Anne Shiely

Leslie Anne Shiely, 53, of Elizabeth, CO, passed away peacefully on the night of December 29, 2019.  Leslie was born on May 13, 1966 in Daytona Beach, Florida, the youngest of four children.  Her parents, Tom & Nancy Moe, moved to Littleton, Colorado in the summer of 1966. Leslie attended elementary and junior high in Littleton before attending Arapahoe High School, from which she graduated in 1984.

Leslie obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Science & Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.  Among her first jobs in her field, she worked as Chemist at Quanterra Environmental Services, and as Project Manager at QuantaLex.  She deftly switched to the IT field, working briefly for AT&T in 1999 before starting a 13-year career with Time Warner Telecom (now Level 3) from 2000 to 2013, rising to Senior Business Solutions Analyst.  She continued as Senior Systems Analyst for Dish Network for 2 years before joining Kaiser Permanente as Senior Business Consultant for Pharmacy Applications from 2015-2017.

She met her beloved husband Martin Shiely, her husband, in Littleton in 1993, and they married in Glenwood Springs, CO in 1995. They revisited Glenwood Springs at least twice a year for the entirety of their marriage.  Martin & Leslie moved to Parker, CO in 1995, and then to Elizabeth, CO in 2002 , where they raised their 2 children, Erin and Thomas, as well as several dogs and cats in their 27 years together.

Leslie was an avid horse rider from an early age, and competed in Saddlebred Equestrian events for years, winning a National Championship in Western Saddle at the National Western Stock Show. She was a board member of the Colorado American Saddle Horse Association from 2010 to 2012, and in the last year was able to successfully return to the horse ring in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky, achieving her life-long dream of riding in the Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show.  She was a valued and vocal advocate for the humane treatment of horses, domestic and wild.

Leslie is survived by her loving husband of 25 years Martin Shiely; their daughter Erin and son Thomas, and her brothers Tom (Karen), Dan, & Steve (Pam) Moe, and two nieces and one nephew.  Leslie is preceded in death by her father Thomas Moe and mother Nancy (Bullard) Moe.

Leslie will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral Service will be held at Ave Maria Church in Parker, CO, at 11AM on Thursday January 16, 2020. Final resting will be at Littleton Cemetery afterwards.
