Jane Lehrmann

Obituary of Jane Doris Lehrmann

Jane Doris Lehrmann

February 7, 1922 – April 23, 2020

Jane Lehrmann, 98, passed away peacefully on April 23rd in Parker, Colorado, with her daughter and son-in-law at her side.  She was born in Chicago, IL to the late Walter and Ruth Feldmann.  After graduating from high school, Jane spent a year taking secretarial classes and working at Marshall Field & Company in downtown Chicago, before moving to San Antonio, TX, in 1943.  In San Antonio she met her future husband, Gene, at a U.S.O. dance.    They were married there on Nov. 23, 1944.  After WWII, they started their family in Wausau, Wisconsin and in 1957 moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin followed by a move in 1967 to Madison, Wisconsin.  In 2009, Gene and Jane moved to Parker, Colorado to live with family.

Jane was known to be a devoted homemaker, creating a loving, caring home where her family flourished.  Family was everything to Jane, and there was no limit to what she would do for her family.  Whether behind the scenes, as a supportive partner to Gene in his career, or as a loving mother and grandmother, she was always present.  Sewing, cooking, baking and gardening, were all activities that brought her joy.  But her greatest joys were always sharing her gifts and being of help.  Her flower gardens were beyond compare and demonstrated her artistic flair.  As an avid quilter, she shared the quilts she made with family members.  Whether sewing square dance dresses, or patching an article of clothing, all were viewed of equal importance.  Everyone counted on the traditional Chocolate Torte for birthdays.  Staying in touch with her family was so important that for years Jane sent out a weekly MDF (My Dear Family) letter, where she included news, plans, and recipes.  Volunteerism also played a vital role in Jane's life, whether at church, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum, or the Oakwood Lutheran Home Service League in Madison, Wisconsin.

Jane will be remembered for her happy, helpful and loving manner.  She had a smile for everyone and a twinkle in her eye.  After moving to Parker, Colorado, Jane appreciated all the attention and worship provided by Calvary Baptist Church of Denver.  To her dying day, Jane loved the Lord.

Jane is survived by her younger sister Muriel (Mickey) Newhouse in the Chicago area; 4 children, Bill (Heather) Lehrmann of Midland, MI; Judy Griswold (Jon Mikesell) of Parker, CO; Jim (Linda) Lehrmann of Racine, WI; and Kurt (Jan) Lehrmann of Racine, WI; 6 grandchildren, Tammy (Fidel Rodrigues) Lehrmann, Shelley (Lee) Anderson, Josh (Julie) Lehrmann, Chris (Christine) Lehrmann, Kyle Lehrmann, and Aubrey Lehrmann; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nephews.  Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Ira Lehrmann, in 2013, and her parents, Walter and Ruth Feldmann.

To honor Jane's life, memorial gifts can be given to Calvary Baptist Church of Denver, 6500 E. Girard Avenue, Denver, CO, 80224 or New Century Hospice, 380 Perry Street, STE 210, Castle Rock, CO, 80104.
