Obituary of Randolph Alan Hudson

Randolph (Randy) Alan Hudson passed away peacefully on May 22, 2020 at his home in Elizabeth, Colorado with his wife and daughters by his side.

Randy was born in Grand Haven, MI on October 27, 1951 to Jack Frederick Hudson and Eldora Ruth Williams. He grew up in Grand Haven and moved to Grand Rapids, MI where he met and married his wife Julie on January 20, 1984.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Jessica Joyce Hudson, his mother Eldora Ruth (Williams) Hudson and his father Jack Frederick Hudson.

He is survived by his wife Julie Hudson (Elizabeth, CO), his daughters Kira Hudson (Parker, CO) and Lara Hudson (Denver, CO), his brothers Kevin (Jeri Lynn) Hudson (Spring Lake, MI), Michael Hudson (Grand Haven, MI), Shawn Hudson (Grand Haven, MI) and Paul (Jennifer) Hudson (Nunica, MI), and many special Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Randy was 67 years old when he was diagnosed with Myelodyspastic Syndrome (MDS) on October 26, 2018. MDS is a bone marrow failure disorder, a blood cancer.  It is a rare cancer and Randy had the most advanced type.  He had an Allogeneic stem cell transplant  in April 2019 which looked promising.The summer of 2019 he was recovering well and we were optimistic, making plans for a trip to Aspen in the Fall.  In November 2019 we received news that the disease had come back and it had progressed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). After receving more intense chemotherapy and planning for another stem cell transplant in April 2020, we found out the treatments weren't working and he could not be treated any longer.  He went into Hospice care at home on May 5, 2020 and passed away on May 22, 2020 at the age of 68.

Randy earned a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and worked as a Senior Software Developer.  He grew up in the Midwest but always longed to live in Colorado.  In 2012 he and his family moved to Elizabeth, CO to live out their dream. Randy had a wide range of interests, he was a scholar (always learning, always reading, he never went anywhere without at least 3 books in his bag, anything from technical manuals to science fiction), he was a scientist, a mathematician, a fan of all Super Heroes (Spiderman was his favorite), a philosopher, an artist, a comedian (he had a wonderful sense of humor), a health nut (he enjoyed hiking, exercising) he was an honest soft-hearted soul, a true friend and a loving and supportive husband and father who will be missed dearly.

To Randy (my husband, my one true love, my best friend, my confidant, my knight in shining armor): From our first date, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, we had a wonderful and way too short 36 years together. We have had intense pain; the loss of our first child, Jessica, and pure joy, the adoption of our two wonderful daughters, Kira and Lara, who have become beautiful young ladies. Fun adventures from skydiving to hiking Haleakala in Hawaii and much much more in between. We were there for each other, no matter what happened. My heart belongs only to you, and always will.  I will love you always, Julie.

Randy will be cremated and interment delayed until his wife Julie eventually joins him.  No service is planned at this time.
