Obituary of Joyce M. Newlon

Elizabeth Joyce Musick Newlon, 92, of Gilbert AZ, passed away on July 5, 2020.

Mother of James (June Heiman) Keith of Phoenix, AZ, Cecily (Bill) Hunkler of Gilbert, AZ, Carolyn (Pat) Ford of Parker, CO, and Kathryn (Dan Wolff) Dragan of Phoenix, AZ.  Grandmother of Ger “Trey” Dragan, Kylie (Zach Simons) Ford, and Lindsey (Nathan) Goetsch. Also survived by nieces Julie Blackler, Stephanie Clough, and Marjorie Campbell. 

Joyce was born on March 24, 1928 in Elbert, CO to Thomas Ingram and Wilma Gustava Clugy Musick.  She married Joe Marbut Keith on June 18, 1955 in Greeley, CO. Joyce earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State College. She worked as a “Girl Friday” for the O’Malley Lumber and Building Supply company until her retirement. Joyce was an accomplished seamstress. She loved the Arizona desert and mountains. Most of all, she loved her family with all her heart and cherished memories of family picnics and reunions, most notably on the fourth of July.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Helene (Delbert) Premer, Marilyn (Eldon) Edwards, and Eleanor (Jack) Clough. A private graveside service will be held on July 15 at the Elbert Cemetery in Elbert, CO. Contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 2707 E. Van Buren St., Phoenix, AZ 85008.
