Obituary of Georgia M. Knapp

Georgia Knapp of Centennial Colorado joined the Saints on Tuesday, September 1st, passing peacefully at her residence. Her 90th birthday was celebrated on July 6th, in grand style with many friends and family. She was so happy and said, "everything was perfect."

Georgia Mae (Shrader) Knapp was born on July 6th, 1930 in Arriba, Colorado to George and Lelah (Eckert) Shrader as her dad worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. When she was around 5 years old, they moved to Denver due to the dust bowl. She graduated from Manual High School. Employment followed with Mountain States Telephone. She met the love of her life, Elmer Knapp, through his sister when he returned from the Navy, and wed on December 27th, 1947. Elmer served during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After the service Elmer worked with his family at Ornie Knapp's Country Market at 46th and Colorado Boulevard. The property became a part of I-70 in 1959. They had 3 children, Susan, Gary and David, whom all reside in the area. Georgia and Elmer were also blessed with 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She loved to travel. She visited many fascinating places, including Europe, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, and an expedition to Antarctica as a highlight. In later years she enjoyed the view of Pike's Peak in comfort of
her family-room chair. Throughout her life she participated in school and church events. She was also an active member in various carousel organizations. We are looking forward to being together again with Georgia in Heaven.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9th, from 10:00AM - 12:00PM at Ponderosa Valley Funeral Services. This will be followed by a Committal Service starting at 01:00PM at Chapel Hill Mausoluem. Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service starting at 03:00PM at the Knapp family home. All addresses for these locations can be found below.

Although Elmer and Georgia are now reunited, she leaves behind many family members, all of which will miss her deeply. She is survived by her children - Susan Lynn Knapp (Centennial, Colorado), Gary Allen Knapp (Castle Rock, Colorado), and David Martin Knapp (Centennial, Colorado). Grandchildren - Hollie Dawn Snogren and Glen Snogren (Centennial, Colorado), Heather Ann Quayle and Jim Quayle (Castle Rock, Colorado), Heidi Cara Vinduska and Fred Vinduska (Parker, Colorado), Joseph Luis Benavente (Los Angeles, California), Stephen Tyler Knapp (Parker, Colorado), and David Christopher Knapp (Centennial, Colorado). Great grandchildren - Bryce Edward Snogren (Centennial, Colorado), Aliesha Mary Snogren (Centennial, Colorado), and David Quayle (Ketchikan, Alaska). Georgia was preceded in death by her 4 brothers and 3 sisters, although one brother might still be alive.
