Alma Kelley

Obituary of Alma Kelley

In loving memory of Alma Kelley.

July 28, 1924 - September 5, 2020

With loving memory we mourn the passing of a dear mother, sister, friend, and nana. Alma Kelley was born in Lodi Missouri to Otto and Edith Shearrer. She grew up the oldest of eight (two died in infancy) and her siblings remained her closest friends throughout her life. She attended Olivet Nazarene University and became a teacher. Her first marriage was to Clifford Bryant, and they had two children, Terry Bryant and Judi Blalock (deceased 2007). Her second marriage was to Benny Kelley, who had a daughter Lisa Young. Alma spent much of her life in Missouri and Texas, and her final home was in Colorado.

Alma’s favorite memories were about her parents, siblings, and children, and she loved to tell stories about growing up in a pastors family. She was a voracious reader, and also enjoyed fishing with her husband Benny. She was an excellent cook, making delicious pecan pie and banana bread. Alma was known for her meticulous home and classy style.

She was a woman of committed faith, and spoke of the Lord to those around her. As her dementia increased, she would often take the hands of her caregivers and offer to pray for them. She was known as the sweet pastors wife in her different caregiving homes.

I’m so grateful for many years of memories with my Nana, and the legacy passed on throughout the Shearrer family of faith in Christ Jesus. We love you Nana and are so happy you are finally reunited with so many of your beloved family members!
