Obituary of Kay Janice Swenson
On March 19th, 2021 Kay Janice Swenson (Greggersen) was called up to heaven. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Kay was born in Thief River Falls, MN on 12-25-46 to Ray and Helen Greggersen and grew up on a farm in Detroit Lakes, MN. In 1964, she graduated from Detroit Lakes High School.
On April 13th, 1966 she married the love of her life, Randall James Swenson at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. There they raised two boys and were foster parents to many other children over many years. In 1981, Randall and Kay decided to pack up and move to Colorado.
Colorado is where they would call home for the remainder of their lives. Through the years, Kay held many different jobs from owning a liquor store to being an accountant. But her favorite job, was also her favorite hobby. Kay loved arts and crafts and was a very talented artist.
Her other love was her grandchildren. Dakota and Mason by her son Randy and wife Susan, and Jeremy, Kaleigh and Kylan by her son Keith.
Kay lost her husband Randall in November 2013 which she never fully recovered from.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Helen, her granddaughter Emma and many other relatives and friends.
Kay is survived by her two sons, Randy and wife Susan and Keith, her 5 grandchildren along with two brothers, Alan Greggersen and Richard Greggersen.
Celebrations of life will be held in Castle Rock, CO on May 15th and in Detroit Lakes MN on May 29th.
