Obituary of Maureen Michiko (Tanouye) Fujiki

Maureen Michiko Tanouye was born on June 29, 1947 in Denver, Colorado to Michisuke and Rose Tanouye. She peacefully passed away on July 17, 2021 at home in Parker, Colorado.

Maureen attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, where she received an Associates degree in Computer Programming. She worked at S&P Global for over 35 years, retiring as a Senior Development Manager in 2009.

Maureen married the love of her life, Gary Fujiki, in December of 1983. They shared two lovely homes, spending the summer months in Parker, Colorado and winters in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they enjoyed golfing at many courses throughout the US and traveling to numerous places including Alaska, Hawaii, Peru, Panama, the Bahamas, New Zealand, Italy, France, Greece and Turkey.

In addition to being an avid and outstanding golfer, Maureen was a very good bowler. She made beautiful stained glass and needlework pieces and donated dozens of crocheted hats to local hospitals for newborn babies. She also loved jigsaw and Sudoku puzzles. Affectionately known as “Mo”, she is fondly remembered for her delicious caramel corn and lace cookies, which she generously shared with family and friends. Everyone who knew Mo well is aware that she collected panda bears and her homes are cheerfully decorated with panda figurines, stuffed animals, and artwork.  We will greatly miss Mo’s gentle spirit, kind and friendly personality, subtle sense of humor, and warm laugh and smile.

Maureen is survived by her loving husband, Gary Fujiki; stepson Jeff Fujiki; stepdaughter Kelly (Mark) Drexler; step-grandchildren Preston and Megan Fujiki and Kimberly Drexler; sister Teri (Charles) Ozaki and niece Courtney Ozaki. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepson Cary Fujiki. She also leaves behind several cousins and many close friends.

An informal celebration of Maureen’s life will take place at On the Rox Sports Bar & Grill, 11957 Lioness Way in Parker, Colorado on Sunday August 8th between 2:00pm and 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers or other contributions, she would have wanted family and friends to treat themselves to a nice dinner or a fun round of golf in her memory.
