Obituary of Christine Marie Erickson Huggard

Christine Marie Erickson Huggard, Parker, CO, passed away at home in her sleep on August 7, 2021 at the age of 53. Christine was born June 18, 1968 and is survived by her husband (Robert Huggard, 53); 3 children (Tyler Miller, 29; Kaitlin Miller, 27; and Lily Huggard, 13); her parents (John and Connie Erickson); and siblings (Michael Erickson, his wife Miyuki Erickson, and Pamela VanLandingham); 4 nephews (Bryce VanLandingham and Connor, Rei, and Kai Erickson); and countless friends.

Christine was diagnosed with Parkinson’s about 9 years ago and recently her diagnosis changed to a terminal illness called Multiple System Atrophy, both types - Parkinson’s and Cerebellar (MSA-P and MSA-C) – which is even more rare! She was recently given 6 months to live, which was cut too short and we lost her too soon. She loved life and laughed non-stop. Christine’s favorite job was being a mother, she would’ve had 20 children if she could! She doted on her children, even as adults. She made friends across the United States and kept in touch with them over the years. The love and support that has been expressed since her passing is overwhelming. She was the kindest person, she would give to any charity, fundraiser, or person in need. MSA had caused dystonia of her neck, where it was permanently bent, her fingers and toes were curling making it even harder to walk, write, brush her hair, etc. She had been using a walker but, due to the orthostatic hypotension (extreme low blood pressure) which caused her to pass out and fall with little warning, she had moved to a wheelchair in June, 2021. It was common for Christine to have large bruises everywhere, black eye(s), or stitches and we feared a major fall, such as a broken bone which wouldn’t be easy to recover!

Losing Christine has left a large empty hole in her family’s lives as well as her friends. The world was a much better place with Christine around and we will never ever forget her.

There will be a small family viewing Thursday, August 12, 2021, and the family is also setting up a celebration of Christine’s life, which will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers we are asking that any donations go to the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition @ https://support.multiplesystematrophy.org/fundraiser/3376239 (in memory of our MSA Angel) to help study this rare disease and maybe find a cure or help others to not suffer like our beloved Christine Huggard. We’ve set up a small fundraiser in her name.
