Obituary of Carol Elizabeth Whitaker

Carol Elizabeth Whitaker of Aurora, Colorado passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 in Aurora. A memorial and Celebration of Life will be held on September 18, 2021, at 2pm at the Pace Center Event Room in Parker, Colorado.

Carol was born on December 15, 1961, in Gallup, New Mexico and grew up in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. She lived most of her adult life in Colorado after spending some time in the South Bay area of Southern California with her husband of 36 years, Mike.

Carol studied Culinary Arts at Johnson and Wales in Rhode Island and spent the early part of her career in the culinary field where she completed that stage of her career as a manager for a catering company in Redondo Beach, California.

While raising children, Carol decided to leave the stressful culinary field for a work-life balance and began working for Cherry Creek School District in various roles. These roles enabled her to continue working but to allow her the time to spend with her children. She enjoyed the relationships that were created with varying levels of district staff members and was able to interact with students in different grades. Carol retired from the school district in 2019.

Carol was a loving and devoted daughter, mother and wife who loved and cared deeply for her family and friends.

Throughout her life, Carol has enjoyed skiing, camping, swimming, hiking, and walking. Her greatest passion was cooking, especially for her family, on holidays, and for get-togethers and small parties with her friends.

Carol is survived by her husband Michael; three children Christopher, Ashlee and Jaimie; Grandchildren Isabelle and Oliver; her father Arthur Cappon of McKinney, Texas; her mother Eleanor Cappon Bowman of Damariscotta, Maine; her brother Andrew Cappon of Huntington Beach, California and her sister Elizabeth Cappon of Carrollton, Texas.
