Obituary of Patricia Jean Kelly

Patricia Jean Kelly, 74, of Franktown, Colorado took her eternal step after a long enduring battle with ALS on October 16, 2021.

Patricia was born on December 27, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to sweet parents Helen and Edward Kelly. From the beginning it was clear Patricia was passionate in the visual arts, dance, spiritual and social projects. Patricia graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Webster College, Missouri, and went on to extend her gifts to the public sector.

Patricia was a genuine leader in Higher Education, serving as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Metropolitan State College of Denver and the College of the Southwest. She also held multiple high-level positions with community and government organizations throughout the Denver Metro area: Original Aurora Renewal, DRCOG, Greeley Partners, Colorado Humanities, and I-News at Rocky Mountain PBS to name a few.

Throughout her career, she directed, held, created, and facilitated programs for children at high risk. In her most recent position she utilized tennis as a mechanism to teach hundreds about Life skills, responsibility, self-respect, and greater self-worth in partnership with the United States Tennis Association. She led programs across Denver-Metro as well as surrounding regions.

Although Patricia was ardent about her career, she was just as courageously eager of life things of love. Namely family, collecting art, traveling within the winds and rocks and water; New Mexico was her favorite. She sketched and documented her musings along the way. Music was always a soft spot to her heart. She deeply cared for her herd including the horses, dogs, cats, ducks, and chickens. She named the ranch in Franktown: Spirit Wood Ranch.

Patricia is lived by her loving husband, Jack Mukavetz and children Jillian and John. Grandson, John. And sisters, Kathy Kelly and Marilyn Jurotich.
