The beautiful lady with the spectacular hair! Nobody had a quicker, darker sense of humor than her. Julie had a way of looking at life in black-and-white, disregarding the gray, she just didn’t have patience for it. When she set her sights on something, nothing stood in her way. She was so unbelievably strong, so stubborn and self-sufficient. Not to mention brutally honest. Her health battles didn’t hold her back, she faced each brutal attack as a warrior. I was always amazed at her strength, there were no excuses. How she loved her Frank - taking on a companion in this journey with so many outer forces working against their goals, but their commitment to each other kept them on course as they built a beautiful life together and made a home, a love, a mark. I’ve been lucky enough to call her friend since elementary and even then she was ahead of the curve - never missing a day of school, having perfect attendance through high school, saving major sicknesses -like Hepatitis, for summer break. She did it with a shrug of the shoulder, a sly smile and short, but really loud bursts of laughter. From boys to husbands, from families to careers, from children to grandchildren Julie was a friend who was always giving, understanding, honest and making you laugh until your stomach hurt. She did not need anyone or anything to find her way - her strong ethics came from with-in, she had her own compass. She proudly loved and served the women in her life; her grandmother and her mother - I know they are together now, comparing notes. My heart will never heal from her leaving, but Julie won’t have any of that, I can hear her now - “Ha! Oh, Jesus Christ! Get on with it!”

Julie is my sister, and my best friend. Although we were not close when we were younger, in our adulthood we shared our unusual but similar sense of humor and sarcasm with each other. We always said, "we get each other". I was blessed that I got to know my sister these past 20 years of our lives.
I will miss the newest tradition we started a few years ago that entailed going up to the mountains in September or October and renting a condo for the weekend. She even surprised me for my 50th birthday when we were up in Breckenridge, Colorado. She made several handouts that read, "Please wish my sister, (Janet), a Happy 50th Birthday...Thank You", and passed them out to strangers walking by when I wasn't looking. The confusion on my face as strangers came up to me to wish me a Happy 50th Birthday was priceless for Julie and Frank as they stood back, watched, and laughed at me.
I will forever be grateful to Julie for all her efforts, time, and energy of keeping the Christmas Eve Polish tradition of Wigilia going. She spent several days preparing the Polish dishes that were shared among our family on Christmas Eve. Those are some of the most precious memories that will remain with me.
It was extremely difficult to see my sister struggle and in pain the last couple weeks that I was able to be with her. She was strong and stubborn and I always admired her for that. She fought till the end and NEVER gave up. I will miss our monthly visits, weekly talks, and especially her sarcasm.
I have been blessed that I got to know my sister and have so many memories of her and the times we shared together.
I love you Julie and already miss you. Love you, Janet
