Delphine Midura

Obituary of Delphine M. Midura

Delphine Marie Midura (maiden name Stachowski), was born on February 18, 1932 in Hamtramck, Michigan. Delphine was the third child of Julian and Mary Stachowski.  Leonard and Eleanore were her two older siblings.  Delphine grew up in Hamtramck and attended St. Florian’s Catholic School from first grade through high school. She went to Madonna University and earned a degree in Children’s Education, and later earned a Master’s degree in Education at Wayne State University. She was a schoolteacher in the Hamtramck public school system for 41 years.  At the age of 72, she substituted at St. Christopher’s Elementary when the school principal (her niece, Cindy) needed substitute teachers. She belonged to Alpha Delta Kappa sorority (for teachers) and met regularly with her beloved friends. Most of all, she was a woman that loved children and helped shape many young lives in those over 41 years of teaching.

Delphine met her husband Edward Midura while teaching at one of the public schools. Her dad actually suggested Edward as a nice young man to meet; his matchmaking worked!  They were married on November 17, 1956 until his death in 1999.  Delphine bought her own condominium in 1996 and lived there until she came to live with her niece in Colorado in December 2019.

Delphine was a very social and fun-loving woman who took care of her mother and two elderly aunts until their deaths.  She had hundreds of friends and single-handedly kept Hallmark and the United States Postal Service in business, as she sent hundreds of cards and gifts to friends and family each year.  Her address book was 5 inches thick! She was the only person we knew that received birthday lunches a couple of months after her birthday because she had so many friends.

Delphine was close to her family and her sibling’s children and spent many times traveling with them and enjoying the holidays.  She was a generous and kind woman who must have been on every charity list in the USA.  She loved to light candles for those in need and has kept the candles burning in multiple churches for over 6 decades.  She loved going to mass and attended multiple times each week.

Delphine loved the beauty of Colorado and the kindness of the people in Parker.  She loved shopping, going out to eat, and seeing new things.  She was a strong and thankful woman who appreciated all the prayers said for her while beating sepsis and later battling a liver infection.  Her good fight ended on February 4th, 2022 after contracting COVID-19 as she was recovering from the infection.  We will remember her with love and laughter for all the joy she brought into our lives.

Thank you for coming today as we celebrate Delphine’s life and death in the hope of rising again with Christ.
