Florence Pritchard

Obituary of Florence Pritchard

On a bright sunny morning May 9, 1921, a baby girl was born to Louis and Mary Verspille. They would name her Florence Julia Verspille. At the age of five, she started first grade at a little country schoolhouse named Prairie View and went there through the eighth grade. She went to Victor, Iowa to start high school. Her father passed away so she returned Colorado where she finished her high school at Saint Joseph Catholic School in Denver.

Florence decided to come back to the farm on Wedemeyer and help her mother. It was there that she met and married her beloved husband, Buck Pritchard. They leased a little farm and started their ranching career. They were blessed with two children, Marilyn and Dick. Florence was a busy wife and mother. She held home school for two years and was a 4H leader for five years. She also served as vice president for the local school board. In addition, she worked at the Land Sale Barn.

Florence was employed as an executive accountant for the state of Colorado for 14 years. After that she return to run and work at the ranch. She and her husband had many, many years together making the ranch their career. Her husband Buck passed away at the age of 76. Her daughter, Marilyn passed away at the age of 73. So now she leaves her ranching duties to her son, Dick.

Florence always had a smile for everyone and I am sure she has a smile for you today.

We will miss her.
