Obituary of Marilyn Ann Naes

Marilyn Ann Roeder Naes, 89, of  Aurora CO passed away on March 16, 2022 surrounded by her family. Marilyn spent the last several weeks of her life at home visited by her beloved family and dear friends.  

Marilyn was born in St. Louis MO, Dec. 16, 1932 to Frank and Helen Roeder. She attended Visitation Academy and went on to Fontbonne University. Marilyn then worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.  

Marilyn married her childhood sweetheart Eugene (Gene) Naes on Thanksgiving day, 1954 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Normandy, MO. Marilyn first met Gene as a teenager while walking to school. She told friends that day that she was going to marry him. 

Their lives together followed Gene’s career to Memphis TN, Topeka KS, Binghamton and Poughkeepsie NY, Tucson AZ and Boulder CO where they joined Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Parish. They moved in 2004 to Heritage Eagle Bend in Aurora CO to enjoy an active retirement and at that time joined Ave Maria Catholic Parish.  

Marilyn’s truest passion in life was as wife to Gene and mother to her children. She was a loving and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very active at church where she volunteered and joined the choir. She also ran her own business “Gourmet Desserts” after her children became independent. She loved to laugh, play tennis, golf, play bridge, socialize, play the organ and dance with her friends  and children in her kitchen.  

Marilyn is predeceased by her husband, 5 siblings and her son Frank Naes who died in infancy. She is survived by her brother Donald Roeder of Minneapolis and 4 children and their spouses. Francine (Rod) Zeren, Kathy (Mike) Greichen, Caroline (Doug) Carlile and Eugene (Tony) (Lori) Naes. Marilyn is also survived by 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Josh Zeren, Jacqueline (Ben) Bolton, Katie (Ryan) Lasswell, Nicholas Carlile, Mathew (Megan) Carlile, Jack Carlile, Eugene Anthony (Ally) Naes III, Annemarie (Derek) Hofmeister, Luke (Haley) Naes, Christian Naes and Daniel Naes. Marilyn is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren with 3 great- grandchildren due in 2022.  

A funeral mass is scheduled for March 29, 2022 at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Parker, CO, rosary at 11:00 am, funeral 11:30 am and luncheon to follow at Ave Marie Catholic Church.
