Obituary of Rosalie Ann Nicoll

Rosalie “Lee” Ann Nicoll passed away on May 9, 2022 at the age of 91 in Denver Colorado.

Lee had been an “effervescent” and fun loving lady – always “looking for action” until her death. Born in Rochester, New York to an Italian immigrant parents – Lorenza Sciarabba and Giusto Rizzo of Misilmeri, Sicily, Italy.  She was surrounded by cousins, Aunts, Uncles and extended family in her formative years before, eventually, relocating to Washington, D.C. where she attended American University. There she met her tall, handsome Marine, John Nicoll, whom she married in 1956.

Three children, multiple moves from Washington, D.C. to New Haven to Washingtonville, NY to Maryland to Pittsburgh and finally to Denver in 1987 (and a stint in Tabernash, Colorado) – she remained dedicated and supportive to her family and husband.  She came to love Denver and happily lived here with John until his passing in 2018. They were married for 62 years.

An avid handy person, oil and watercolor artist, designer, sewer and aspiring chef – Lee dabbled in all things. Always independent and never afraid to take on a project, she was truly upset when advised at age 89 to stop using her miter saw (and to stop driving).

Lee is survived by her daughter Stephanie (husband John Reilly), son John Isaac “Ike” (wife Lynn Crist-Culman), and son Alfred Augustus “Gus” along with grandchildren Jack, Carlin, Mitchell, Justin, John and Holly.

Family and friends will attend a graveside burial at Washingtonville Cemetery, Washingtonville, NY on June 25, 2022. At last, Lee will joining her beloved husband, whom she missed every day since his passing.
