Obituary of Joanne Ellen Stone

On July 8, 2022, Joanne Ellen Waite Stone, S Clermont St, Clermont Park, Denver, Colorado, formerly of South Shore Road, Old Forge, New York and Prospect St, Norwood, New York, died at Swedish Medical Center, Englewood, Colorado.    

Born August 5, 1936, in Watertown, New York, daughter of Harold and Lena Waite, she graduated from Watertown High School in 1954.  She married William J. Stone on February 5, 1956, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Watertown, New York. 

Joanne was a loving wife, mother, and daughter, dedicated to her family and friends.  She loved the Adirondacks and spending time at “camp” in Old Forge, entertaining family and friends, participating in library programs, and going to the Enchanted Forest. 

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, William James Stone Sr. and her son, William James Stone Jr.  Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Stone-Reyes, San Antonio, Texas, Anne Moore, Columbia, Maryland, and Holly Lane, Castle Rock, Colorado, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 227 Sherman Street, Watertown, New York, 13601.  Her entombment will be in Trinity’s Episcopal Church Columbarium, Watertown.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Joanne Stone to the Old Forge Library, at PO Box 128, 220 Crosby Blvd., Old Forge, New York 13420 or St. Peter’s by the Lake, PO Box 111, Eagle Bay, New York 13331.
