Obituary of Joan Carmen Beindorff

Joan Beindorff, 82, of Parker, Colorado, died peacefully with her husband John by her side on September 10, 2022.

Joan was born in Wichita, KS on July 19, 1940 to Bernice (Shore) and Arthur Steichen. She and her husband John met in elementary school and had a lifelong love story. They started their married lives together in Wichita in July of 1963, followed by two years in Lawrence, KS, then moved to Denver in 1965 where they raised their three children.

Joan received her Bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University in 1962, then spent her career in elementary education working for various school districts in the Denver Metro area as a literacy specialist touching the lives of countless children. She also volunteered as a child advocate, helping abused and neglected kids. Joan was a Tri Delta in college which led to her later being heavily involved in the Denver Area Panhellenic for many years, serving as president and other roles within the organization.

Joan had an incredibly generous spirit, putting others’ needs before her own. She constantly gave love and time to others, always giving of herself and leaving a legacy of love among family, friends and even strangers. 

Joan had a deep love for Colorado’s mountains, as well as for gardening, travel and reading. She cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Joan is survived by her husband John, and their three children, Michael (Elisabeth), Gretchen (Phil) Healey, and Mark (Allison), and two grandchildren, Wade and Maren Beindorff.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 9203 S University Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126.
