Obituary of Evelyn Refosco

Evelyn Jean Refosco, age 76, of Parker, CO passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in the comfort of her home with family by her side. She was born on March 5, 1947 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Evelyn was a truly extraordinary soul and left an enduring mark on everyone she met. Her soul a sunny strand woven into life's tapestry. Confronting the challenges of a spinal cord injury for over half her life, she embodied grace and determination, inspiring all who knew her.

Her life unfolded as a story of turning challenges into opportunities for others. A devoted mother, she extended boundless love beyond her own children, becoming a dedicated pillar of support. Evelyn's unique ability to transform difficulties into positive forces guided many others with disabilities towards happiness and success.

Evelyn won Ms. Wheelchair Colorado in 1993, a testament to her strength and resilience. Her impact extended to the disability community, serving on the director's board for CCHHR and NARHA, leaving an enduring legacy of support for therapeutic riding.

In her youth, she enjoyed racing cars and riding horses, echoing her zest for life. As an airline attendant, fate introduced her to Larry Refosco, with whom they would start a family. Together, they enjoyed restoring street rods and classic vehicles, along with taking their family on beautiful vacations to places like Lake Powell, and the Cayman Islands. Evelyn loved the sunshine and warmth, and a yellow rose was her flower of choice. She was a beautiful and caring soul to her family.

Her heart embraced not only people but also cherished companions—her horse, Babe, her husky, Akira, her Corgi, Corky, and even the neighbor’s dog, Scout. In their company, she found solace and joy. There were more days than not that she would have preferred spending her time at the Zoo. Even the wild animals seemed to prefer spending their time around her lovely house.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, the world feels dimmer without her. Yet, the memories and lessons she taught, in triumph and resilience, will keep Evelyn alive in our hearts.

Survivors include her sons, Cody (Lorilee) Raymond Refosco, and Michael Jerome Beeman; nephew, Bryce Beeman, and siblings, Ed Hunt, Debbie Hunt, and Tami Bird.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Refosco, mother, Dartha Hunt, father, Edwin Hunt, brother, Ronnie Hunt, and furry kids, Babe, Akira, and Corky.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the warmer months in hopes everyone who wants to attend can enjoy some sunshine.
